Students give world champion athlete a run for his money

25 talented runners from a group of secondary schools within the David Ross Education Trust joined the World, European, Diamond League and Commonwealth Champion, Dai Greene for their annual Running Talent Day at Charnwood College, in Loughborough.

The Running Talent Day is part of a packed programme of events hosted by the Trust and is an opportunity for some of the Trust’s top runners to work with a world-class athlete, taking part in sessions including strength and conditioning, injury rehabilitation, training programme planning, health and nutrition, and a practical running session. At the end of the day, athletes quizzed Dai in a Q&A session, where he inspired the students with his own experiences.

Extra-curricular clubs and coaching available across the Trust’s schools gives students access to high-quality sports experiences, including partnerships with London Pulse, Northampton Saints, Leicester Riders.

Alice Page, Sports Enrichment Coordinator, said: “Our Talent Days give our students an amazing opportunity to excel in their sport, with renewed confidence, determination and ambition to excel in their studies and on the sports field. Having world champions like Dai Greene lead days for us is an inspiration to everyone involved. We hope to see our young athletes grace world sport in the years to come!
