Triathlete Chris Perham joins the team at Loughborough’s Charnwood College

Loughborough’s Charnwood College, part of the David Ross Education Trust, has welcomed a new swimming coach to the academy.

Mr Chris Perham, who currently competes as a triathlete for the World Class and Performance Squad at Loughborough University, joined the team at Charnwood College in February.

The talented triathlete was crowned World Champion as part of Team GB’s Under-23 mixed relay team in 2015, and recently secured Team Gold at the World University Championships. Chris, who is currently ranked 11th in Europe, also took home Silver at the British Swimming Championships last summer.

Alongside teaching at Charnwood College, Chris is currently training for the 2018 World U23 Championships, which will take place in Australia in September.

Mr Perham said: “I am thrilled to be joining the team at Charnwood College. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know students, colleagues and members of the local community.

“I am looking forward to working alongside Charnwood’s budding young swimmers to help them achieve the best mix of coaching and training to enable them to reach the highest of levels.”

Charnwood College hosts a number of impressive sporting facilities, including the 25-metre swimming pool, a 3G artificial pitch and extensive sports fields. These state-of-the-art facilities are open to members of the local community, helping all talented sports stars in the area to reach their full potential.
