New Principal appointed at Loughborough's Charnwood College

Loughborough’s Charnwood College, part of the David Ross Education Trust, is delighted to announce the appointment of its new Principal.

Mr Alastair O’Connor, who originally joined Charnwood College in August 2008, will take up his new position on 29thAugust.

Alastair is currently Vice Principal at Charnwood College, where he has played an instrumental role in creating a vibrant school community, with a clear sense of purpose and commitment to delivering a world-class education. Alastair takes over from Dan Neal, the school’s interim Principal.

During his time as a senior leader at the school, Alastair has formed strong relationships with students and staff, and cares deeply about the school and its role within the local community.

Following his appointment, Alastair will continue to raise the aspirations of students at Charnwood, encouraging young people to achieve their full academic potential and helping them to prepare for the next steps in their academic journey.

More students than ever before are now heading to the country’s top universities following their time at Charnwood College, opening up a wealth of new possibilities and helping to raise aspirations and shape character.

Alastair said: “I am delighted to be leading Charnwood College at an exciting time in our school’s history. We are welcoming more Year 7 students than ever before in September, which reflects our drive in raising academic ambitions and improving education outcomes for our young people in our community.

“We are already sporting world-champions and I want to see our academic achievements to be just as renowned through a focus on exemplary behaviour and learning inside and outside the classroom.”
