Loughborough’s Charnwood College, part of the David Ross Education Trust, has teamed up with Loughborough Sport to deliver a pioneering rugby programme for Year 7 and 8 students.

The new rugby programme, which will be open to current students as well as those wishing to join the school, is due to begin in September 2018. Working with Loughborough Sport, the programme will provide elite coaching for Year 7 and 8 rugby scholars at Charnwood College.

Charnwood College will host an Open Day on Saturday 14th April for all current Year 5, 6 and 7 students within the local area, where they will have the chance to find out more about the school’s Rugby Development Programme.

As well as receiving elite level coaching from experienced coaches, the programme will allow students to sustain their academic studies whilst encouraging the development of their sporting talents.

Coaching sessions will be delivered by a specially employed coach, and students from Loughborough University, who will work with scholars at Charnwood College as part of the exclusive programme.

Alan Buzza, Director of Rugby at Loughborough University, said: “We’re delighted to be working alongside Charnwood College to offer this outstanding rugby development programme to secondary students. This will be an outstanding opportunity for boys and girls from the local area to access high level coaching and training alongside their academic studies.”

Charnwood College’s Rugby Development Programme is one of the many incredible sporting opportunities available to students as part of the David Ross Education Trust’s pioneering enrichment programme.

The Trust currently runs a number of successful programmes focusing on different sports including basketball, football, swimming and table tennis. Scholars from the Trust’s sporting programmes have celebrated numerous National and County titles, alongside some incredible individual sporting achievements.
