Loughborough's Charnwood College celebrates on GCSE Results Day

Year 11 students at Loughborough’s Charnwood College, part of the David Ross Education Trust, have been celebrating after receiving their long-awaited GCSE results today.

Alastair O’Connor, Principal at Charnwood College, said: “I am delighted to see so many of our students celebrating their successes today. This is a true reflection of the hard work and dedication of our students, staff, and the fantastic support we receive from our parents.

“We are very much looking forward to welcoming many of our Year 11 students back to Charnwood College in September, where they will begin their Sixth Form studies.”

Amongst those celebrating was Ileana Baltaga. Despite having English as an additional language, Ileana achieved two Grade 9s in both English Language and Literature, the highest possible grade in both subjects, along with two Grade 8s in French and Spanish.

Lucy Horstmann was also celebrating after receiving her results. Lucy, who achieved two Grade 9s in Music and Biology, and four Grade 8s in Maths, Chemistry, Physics and English Literature, commented: “I am so pleased with my results! It has been a long wait during the summer holidays but now I can finally celebrate with my friends, family and amazing teachers at Charnwood College.”

Ryan Patel was delighted to discover he had secured two Grade 8s, six Grade 7s and two Grade 6s. He said: “I am delighted with my grades, they have opened up so many doors for me. The biggest decision I have to make now is which A levels to study at Charnwood College.

“I would like to thank all of my teachers for the amazing support, especially around the additional revision sessions that took place leading up to the exams.”

Rowena Hackwood, Chief Executive Officer at the David Ross Education Trust, said: “At the David Ross Education Trust, we are proud to offer our students a rich and exciting learning environment that inspires them to become their confident, academic best.

“We are delighted to see our students receive their GCSE results today. From here, they can progress into the world of further education, employment and work towards their successful futures with confidence.”
