Charnwood College students celebrate top grades

Students and staff at Charnwood College are celebrating another year of impressive achievements, as Year 11's found out the outcomes of their GCSE exams today.
Mark Sutton, Principal, said: "At Charnwood College we are committed to delivering the highest academic standards and our students should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved.
"Our GCSE results are continuing to strengthen. Across almost every measure we have seen four years of consistent progress in our GCSE outcomes, and this year we have accelerated that trend.
"Levels of progress across English and maths continue to rise, while attainment across other core subjects is also consistently strong.
"Five of our most able students, for example, managed to secure an incredible 45 A* and As between them. This is an outstanding achievement in itself."

Among the students celebrating was Eloise Kirk who achieved 4A*, 6A and 1B grade. She said: "I've achieved my personal goal today and I'm delighted with my results. I'm looking forward to starting my A-Levels and hope to go to University to study Law."

Thomas Gesmantel was also delighted with his results. He said: "I'm so happy with my results. With these grades I can now come back to the College's Sixth Form to study Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Computing."
Matthew Storr gained 4A*, 4A and 2B grades. Matthew said: "I'm so relieved that the wait is over and I'm thrilled with what I've achieved. It is beyond what I could have imagined."
Wendy Marshall, Chief Executive of the David Ross Education Trust, added: "The GCSE and A-Level results achieved at Charnwood College mark the end of a very impressive year at the academy.
"Results are strengthening, the opportunities that are on offer are amongst the very best in the sector and we are investing heavily in Charnwood's site.
"This is just the start of a very bright future for Charnwood College and I look forward to what the next academic year will bring."
